Advanced Stroke Certification
Trustpoint Rehabilitation Hospital of Lubbock is the FIRST hospital in Lubbock, Texas, to earn The Joint Commission’s disease-specific certification for Stroke Rehabilitation.
Certification is voluntary and given after a rigorous on-site review of the hospital’s practices, programs, and outcomes in treating stroke patients. It is available only to acute care hospitals that are accredited by The Joint Commission.
To get the most successful results for our patients, the hospital promotes family involvement, and follows best practices and evidence-based clinical practice guidelines through our stroke services, resulting in:
- Quicker recovery times for patients
- More patients discharged to home
- More physical and cognitive independence for patients
At the hospital, an interdisciplinary healthcare team works with patients and their family members to create individualized treatment plans so the patients can progress at their own ability levels. The rehabilitation team includes specially trained physicians, nurses, case managers, and occupational, speech, and physical therapists – among other medical professionals.
Our program is for stroke survivors who require 24-hour rehabilitative nursing care as well as daily physician management and therapies. Our patients have access to the latest rehabilitative technology, private patient rooms, and well-equipped therapy areas that include one pediatric and three adult therapeutic gyms, along with a therapeutic courtyard.
Our therapists also provide treatments in our daily living suite, which allows patients to practice daily, at-home activities while still under the supervision of a healthcare professional. In addition, we offer home evaluations to identify any necessary modifications that may need to be made to ensure a safe return home.
