Meet Our Leaders


April Holsey, Chief Executive Officer
April is proud to work for a rehab hospital that provides excellent care and outcomes that rank in the top 10% in the nation.

After receiving her undergraduate degree from Lubbock Christian University, April earned her doctorate degree in physical therapy from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in 2011. She began as a staff physical therapist at Trustpoint hospital with a passion for treating patients recovering from a stroke, traumatic brain injury, and the pediatric population.  She transitioned into the role of clinical liaison, director of patient outcomes and became director of marketing and business development in 2019.

She enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 children, playing golf, camping and visiting family and friends.


Seth Torres, Chief Operating Officer
Seth has led our therapy department with great success since 2008. He has a passion for patients with spinal cord injuries and the role in recovery which we are able to play here at Trustpoint Rehabilitation Hospital of Lubbock.

Seth graduated from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center with his Master’s in Occupational Therapy in 2006. He worked as a staff OT in the rehab setting for two years before transitioning into the role of Therapy Supervisor in 2008.

Seth was born and raised in Lubbock and continues to live here with his wife and two daughters.  He enjoys golfing and spending time outdoors.  He also enjoys participating in wheelchair dodgeball, a program developed for patients with disability.


Patrick Collins, Director of Marketing and Business Development
Patrick has more than 15 years of experience in medical business development and marketing. He thrives in creating long-term, valued relationships and positioning his team towards greater areas for success.

Patrick attended Texas Tech University, studying several areas, including Biology and Psychology, before finally settling on a degree in Marketing, per his parents’ insistence. After college, he discovered a hidden fervor within the healthcare industry as a Physician Liaison, focusing his skills on Physician Relations, business strategies and development analysis. He successfully implemented policies to build market share and increase revenue for multiple organizations and hospitals. He feels very blessed and honored to be a part of phenomenal experts at Trustpoint!

A self-proclaimed Master of Pop Culture, Patrick still dreams of becoming a writer for “Saturday Night Live” and/or writing the next great movie.  Until NBC calls, however, he will continue enjoying life through writing screenplays and television treatments, cheering on his beloved Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Dodgers and – most importantly – making everlasting memories with his wife and two children.


John Parsons RN, MSN, CRRN Chief Nursing Officer
John enjoys seeing our rehabilitation patients progress through the care they receive at Trustpoint Rehabilitation Hospital of Lubbock.  He takes pride in our facility’s ability to care for patients so they may return home independently.

He has worked as a nurse for more than 15 years in various nursing settings.  John began his career as an ICU nurse working in both MICU and CICU.  He moved on to become the director of  MICU before moving on to be the director of a level one trauma center.  From there he joined the Trustpoint team in 2014 as the Chief Nursing Officer.

John earned his master’s degree in nursing From Texas Tech University in Lubbock Texas.  He is a member of the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses and holds a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse designation from this organization. He resides in Lubbock with his wife and two children.


Lacey Pittman, Director of Therapy Operations
Lacey is proud to work with a dynamic team who strives their best, every day, to increase overall patient independence and/or decrease the burden of care for patients’ loved ones.

Lacey earned her Masters in Occupational Therapy from Texas Tech University Health Science Center in 2014. She worked as a staff OT, mainly in the rehab setting for 4 years. Her passion for treating the neurological population eventually led her to a Team Lead role in 2019.

Lacey was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, before moving to Lubbock for graduate school. While in school, she met her husband and firmly planted roots in West Texas. She enjoys health/fitness, walking their dog, and spending time with friends and family.


Kelly Turnbow, Director of Human Resources
Kelly provides direction and leadership in hiring and employee relations for the hospital.  She maintains and ensures Joint Commission standards are met, federal and state laws are followed and hospital and Ernest Health policies are practiced.

Kelly’s priority is to find, hire and retain the most qualified healthcare and professional staff with the skills, experience and commitment that contribute and assure the most beneficial services to our patients.

She brings more than 17 years of experience to her role. She earned a master’s degree in management with an emphasis in human resource management from Wayland Baptist University in Lubbock, Texas.

In her spare time, Kelly enjoys spending time with her family and friends and especially her 4 grandchildren.



Eric Young R. Ph., Director of Pharmacy
Eric earned a degree in Pharmacy from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. He started his career in hospital pharmacy. After several years in retail pharmacy, he returned to a hospital setting as Director of Pharmacy at Trustpoint in 2013.

Eric is proud to work with a team at Trustpoint that provides rehabilitation to patients in need. He finds it rewarding to watch a patient’s journey towards recovery and returning home.

Eric enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons. When Eric isn’t exercising or enjoying a round of golf he can usually be found watching youth sports, his beloved Dallas Cowboys or Texas Tech Red Raiders.

Physician Leadership

Roger Wolcott, MD., Medical Director
Dr. Wolcott brings more than 20 years of medical experience to his position. Board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Dr. Wolcott has served as medical director of the hospital since 2008. He also serves as associate professor for the Neurology and Orthopedic Department and mentoring associate professor for residents and physician assistants at Texas Tech University Health Science Center in Lubbock, Texas.

Dr. Wolcott earned a Doctorate in Medicine and completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Texas Tech University Medical School. He completed a residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.

He is an associate member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and is a diplomate for the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Syamala Chekuru, MD., Associate Medical Director of Stroke Program
A physiatrist, Dr. Chekuru is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Offering her patients more than 35 years of expertise, Dr. Chekuru earned a medical degree from Guntur Medical College in Guntur, A.P., India. She completed medical internships at Guntur General Hospital and Brooklyn-Cumberland Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. She completed a residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Metropolitan Hospital Center in Valhala, N.Y.

She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and is a member of Lubbock-Crosby-Garza Medical Society.

Lara Johnson, MD., Medical Director of Pediatrics
Dr. Johnson is a pediatrician who brings nearly 15 years of experience to her role at the hospital. She earned a medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. She completed a pediatric residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas and participated in the Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program at Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Conn. She also earned a master’s degree in health sciences research from Yale University School of Medicine.

Dr. Johnson is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Society of Hospital Medicine, and the Texas Pediatric Society.

Michael McPherson, MD., President of the Medical Staff
Dr. McPherson’s brings 20 years of experience to his role at the hospital. He earned a medical degree and completed and internship and residency in internal medicine at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in Lubbock, Texas.
