Irma Rodriquez
Success Story
Irma Rodriquez is a 64-year-old billing specialist from Levelland, Texas. When not spending time with her family, she enjoys attending car shows, cooking, and attending church. Recently, she was involved in a car accident with a semi-truck that left her with multiple traumatic injuries, including fractured ribs, a concussion, a collapsed lung, arm fractures, and memory challenges.
Following initial treatment at an acute care hospital, Irma chose to receive specialized rehabilitation at Trustpoint Rehabilitation Hospital of Lubbock (TRHL) based upon her granddaughter’s recommendation.
“When I first got here (TRHL), I felt peace,” Irma says. “I told my son, ‘God is here.’”
Irma’s primary goal while at TRHL was to return home quickly. The hospital’s interdisciplinary healthcare team worked with her to create a customized treatment plan so she could achieve her goal
“The therapy and nursing care has been amazing,” she says. “Fabian, my physical therapy assistant, has been exceptional. They all treat me like I deserve the best.”
Irma was in extreme pain and had limited mobility when she arrived at TRHL. After two weeks of specialized rehabilitative care, she now can stand and walk independently and use the restroom unassisted. Irma has been discharged home, where she looks forward to walking without assistance, traveling with her family, and playing with her grandchildren.
