Adalberto Garcia
Success Story
Adalberto Garcia, a 31-year-old heavy-duty machine operator from Floydada, Texas, enjoys spending time with his family, grilling outdoors, and watching movies. Recently, his life took an unexpected turn when he fell in the shower and found himself unable to move the right side of his body or face. He had suffered a hemorrhagic stroke—a medical emergency in which a ruptured blood vessel in the brain causes bleeding, leading to pressure and damage to brain tissue.
Adalberto spent eight days in the ICU receiving critical care. After his condition stabilized, he was referred to Trustpoint Rehabilitation Hospital of Lubbock (TRHL) to begin his journey toward recovery. His primary goals were to stabilize his blood pressure and regain as much function as possible.
“Being able to walk, even just a little, has been my biggest accomplishment,” Adalberto says. “I now can move the lower half of my body, and my speech has improved. My arm is still a challenge, but I’m working on it.”
Adalberto continues to make steady progress and is committed to continuing his recovery through outpatient therapy. With determination and optimism, he looks forward to reclaiming his life and returning to the activities he enjoys.
